Basic Tips in On-Page SEO

SEO, Search Engine Optimization is where we construct our own web pages and uses certain optimization technique to help us rank as high as possible on search engine result pages (SERPs). When our page gets a higher ranking on google results pages, our sites receives more traffic too.
SEO can be divided into two separate categories; On-Page SEO and Off-Page SEO.

On-Page Optimization refers to all the measures that we can do ON our website in order to improve our search rank higher, such as page title, internal linking, Meta tags and descriptions, etc.

Off-Page Optimization refers to all the measures that we can do directly OFF our website in order to improve our search rank higher, such as social networking, article submission, forum and blog marketing, etc.

ON-PAGE OPTIMIZATION

On-Page Optimization is done in both heading section and body section. Heading section optimization includes page title, Meta description and Robot Meta tag. Body section optimization includes heading tags, anchor test, keyword optimization, content optimization and image optimization.

On-Page Optimization

Heading Section On-Page Optimization

1. Page title

Page title is the most important SEO factors on our site. For better page title we should follow some tips. That is;
Each of our pages should have its own unique title.
Google can show only 512 pixels content in the search result of page title. Hence 55 – 60 character limits is good for a page title in order to show complete page title in search results. So as per SEO Starter Guide it is better not to use full capital letters while selecting a page tile.
It is good to include focusing keyword once in a page title.
There is no fixed word limit for a page title, but it is good to keep a word limit of 8. Because simple and small page title with meaningful description gets more user impression and attention.
Avoid spelling mistakes and grammar mistakes in a page title.

2. Meta description

In Meta description we give a short description of our content in the page.
Google allows 1024 pixel width to show Meta description. So to show complete Meta description it is better to use a character limit of 155-160.
Use focusing keyword once in a Meta description.

3. Robot Meta tag

Default Robot Meta tag allows the google robots to index the page on the search results and also allows following the links given in the pages.
We can disallow this two by giving content=”no index, no follow”.

Body Section On-Page Optimization

Body section has the first priority in the On-page optimization, because body is the most visited area in a page.

1. Heading tags

Use only one <h1> in a page.
Heading should be more impressive, simple and small.
Use focusing keyword once.
It is good to use <h2> also for once, but for bigger sites we can use <h2> with 2 or 3 words more than one.

2. Anchor test

Don’t give anchor test towards our focusing keyword, if we made so our credibility will be decreasing.

3. Keyword Density

Now a day’s google is not considering the keyword density, but also it is good to have keywords for 2 or 3 times.
Using keywords in content helps the googlebots to identify the type of content easily.
It is better to use keywords in the starting of a paragraph itself.
Also we can use keyword related synonyms and abbreviations.

4. Content optimization

While we arrange a page it is good to place our focusing keyword just after a (.) or (,).
When we use a keyword with more than two phrases, make sure each of the words repeat 2 or 3 times separately in content.

5. Image optimization

Give an image name which is matching to the image, it helps the users who are searching in google images to get the images easily. And also this helps the googlebots to identify what the image means.
In an image name don’t give space, instead give (–) or (_).
Give an appropriate Alt attribution which is suitable to the content and image.

These are the basic tips in On-Page SEO. Using this tips individually will not bring good results, but while we practice all these tips together it will surely bring us an amazing result.
